 Hello All,

New to this forum. I'm also new to the Planet, and post mostly there.   Don't see too many updated threads on here. Anyways, I just bought me a 91 Trooper about 3 weeks or so ago now and using it as my daily driver until I rig my 94 Toyota up for the trails with a lift, bigger tires, lockers, winches etc....

Anyways, when is the next MWIOR outing? Never rode with experienced offroaders, and looking to learn a lot from you guys.

Bob,

Welcome to the crew!  You will learn a lot from this experienced band of offroaders, I certainly have.  We look forward to seeing you on the trails!

Welcome!  This is usually the quiet time of year around here for us, as many of us are using our rigs to simply navigate the snow/ice rather than wheeling, but it will definitely pick up after we've come out from hibernation!

That being said, nothing really scheduled just yet as far as a club run goes...Things usually kind of pop up a few weeks in advance, and other than the "assumed" runs of Snowball in January, and what has affectionately been referred to as "Sweaty Ball" in July, we usually just kind of wing it.  Also, whereabouts are you from?  I've been seriously thinking about setting up a northern run sometime in the spring before my first little one arrives, and will start to see who would be available.

(By northern, I probably mean the Wisconsin area.)

Hey Bob, glad to see you found your way here!

Yeah it stays quite around here sometimes but the site comes in handy for get-togethers. It seems to be growing though.

I may have a job up in Michigan to go to in the near future. A Wisconsin run might be doable if I'm up there.

Thanks, and glad to be here.  I'm from SE Wisconsin, Milwaukee to be exact.  I'm looking forward to wheeling with a group of experienced offroaders in the future. Please let me know when you guys plan an event. Hopefully I can get some time off...just need at least 2 weeks notice for getting days off.

Howdy Bob, welcome.

We usually also have a run in the fall at Gilbert MN (Iron Range ORV Park)...but we're always open to suggestions!

Hmm...sounds like a plan. Please let me know a head of time so I can plan ahead. Hopefully I can get off. It's a bit of a drive for me.  I was thinking if you guys head to Overland Northwoods again, let me know too. THat's a bit closer for me.

Just found out I have frame rust on my trooper too! ARGH! So will be doing patch welds for now...hopefully it'll hold up on the trails. I'm going to junk it next year. It's a good DD for now, and maybe some trails riding.

[shrug] My Trooper has some frame rust but has been fine for some fairly hardcore wheeling, no problems. Isuzu overbuilt these things...

Overland Northwoods is a possibility too, I have not been there yet but would like to check it out.

Save the 1st Generation Trooper!  Well, do your best.  there's a great thread on the planet of a frame resto.....hugely ambitious, I know--I have an '83 Land Cruiser that I saved from the scrap pile.

Overland Northwoods came to mind when you said that you are from WI.  I'm surprised Wes (96TrooperSE) hasn't chimed in--he'll be glad to know there's a fellow Zu in Wisconsin.

And before I forget--Welcome to MWIOR!

Yep - Northwoods was precisely where I had in mind!  I'll let you all know if I can get something together.  Would be nice to go out and camp for a few nights and see everything that Jeremy has done.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm just waiting for warmer weather to melt the snow, I do all the work outside. The garage is full! But I plan to patch weld some 1/4 steel or water is needed to bandage the rust through. Well check out the frame resto on the planet.

What about memorial weekend for Nortwoods? Hopefully I can get off work. It would be good to wheel with some of you experienced drivers.

By the way, my screen name on the planet is "RustyZu"....it was the same name on here, but I changed it to RustyZu. =)

Could definitely be a Memorial Day run - only problem I have is that that is less than 2 weeks from when my boy will be born.  Undecided  So...I don't want to be late!  Definitely not off the schedule though.  Looks NWO is open that weekend (they are only open select weekends this summer), but, I could possibly convince him to open a different weekend if we wanted him to.

So - I'm going to open a NWO thread over in Events/Gathering board, make sure you post up if you might be remotely interested, and we'll get it going early.  Maybe make this one a big one.  I'd be perfectly willing to make it a 4 day weekend and so some good camping out there.  We never really have had a MWIOR 2/3 day thing.
